Selon le CAFC, entre 10 % et 35 % des premiers intervenants au Canada d\u00e9velopperont un trouble de stress post-traumatique (TSPT).[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;below this&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.10.8&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;|150px||150px|false|true&#8221; custom_padding_tablet=&#8221;&#8221; custom_padding_phone=&#8221;|3px||3px|false|true&#8221; custom_padding_last_edited=&#8221;on|phone&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<div class='et-box et-shadow'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><h3>Parmi les probl\u00e8mes identifi\u00e9s, citons:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Niveaux \u00e9lev\u00e9s d\u2019alcoolisme et d\u2019abus de substances;<\/li>\n<li>Un taux de suicide 30% plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que celui des groupes t\u00e9moins; et<\/li>\n<li>Probl\u00e8mes conjugaux 50% plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s que la moyenne.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div><\/div>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.10.8&#8243; custom_css_main_element=&#8221;padding-top: 2%;&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]Le stress est d\u00fb \u00e0 la nature physiquement dangereuse et psychologiquement \u00e9prouvante du travail. Les pompiers travaillent de longs quarts de travail en petites \u00e9quipes; ils peuvent souffrir de privation de sommeil et sont r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement expos\u00e9s aux dangers du feu, des produits chimiques et des dangers biologiques.<\/p>\n<p>Les pompiers vivent quotidiennement des \u00e9v\u00e9nements potentiellement mortels et tr\u00e8s stressants. Au-del\u00e0 de leur r\u00f4le plus traditionnel de lutte contre les incendies, ils sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement les premiers sur les lieux d\u2019accidents, de suicides et d\u2019actes de violence. Ils peuvent avoir \u00e0 r\u00e9agir \u00e0 de grands \u00e9v\u00e9nements faisant de nombreuses victimes, tels que des inondations, des tremblements de terre, des fusillades dans des \u00e9coles ou des accidents d\u2019avion; ils traitent de la possibilit\u00e9 de la mort et de la destruction \u00e0 chaque appel.<\/p>\n<p>La lutte contre les incendies demeure une profession \u00e0 pr\u00e9dominance masculine, moins de 4 % des pompiers volontaires ou professionnels au Canada \u00e9tant des femmes. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la MT r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement le stress et aide le corps \u00e0 r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer plus rapidement des situations stressantes. La MT renforce \u00e9galement le syst\u00e8me immunitaire et am\u00e9liore le fonctionnement du cerveau afin que l\u2019on puisse penser plus clairement dans des situations stressantes. De plus, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la MT entra\u00eene une diminution de l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 et de la d\u00e9pression. La coordonnatrice de l\u2019\u00e9quipe a donn\u00e9 \u00e0 Deboragh la permission d\u2019inviter des pompi\u00e8res \u00e0 une pr\u00e9sentation d\u2019introduction sur la technique de MT.<\/p>\n<p>Chacune des 13 pompi\u00e8res qui ont appris la MT a \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9e pour le stress per\u00e7u avant d\u2019apprendre la technique, et de nouveau apr\u00e8s trois mois de pratique.
