Bien qu\u2019une partie de la journ\u00e9e puisse \u00eatre routini\u00e8re, \u00e0 d\u2019autres moments le m\u00eame jour, la police peut avoir \u00e0 intervenir dans un incident de violence familiale, \u00e0 faire face \u00e0 un accident de voiture mortel, \u00e0 arr\u00eater un trafiquant de drogue, \u00e0 rechercher un enfant enlev\u00e9, \u00e0 assister \u00e0 une audience, etc. Les agents de premi\u00e8re ligne doivent \u00eatre en \u00e9tat d\u2019alerte pendant leur journ\u00e9e de travail, ce qui entra\u00eene un niveau d\u2019adr\u00e9naline continuellement \u00e9lev\u00e9 et un \u00e9tat d\u2019hyper-excitation, un peu comme celui v\u00e9cu par les militaires en service actif. Le travail par quarts peut avoir un impact n\u00e9gatif sur le sommeil et l\u2019alimentation.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.10.8&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Une \u00e9tude r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 2012 aupr\u00e8s de 25 corps policiers au Canada met en \u00e9vidence cet ensemble unique de facteurs de stress. La police doit faire face \u00e0 des demandes multiples, concurrentes et en constante \u00e9volution, toujours avec un sentiment d\u2019urgence. Les effets sur la sant\u00e9 physique et mentale de ces conditions de travail continuellement stressantes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 bien document\u00e9s et vont de taux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de divorce, d\u2019abus d\u2019alcool et de suicides, \u00e0 des taux accrus d\u2019hypertension art\u00e9rielle, de maladies cardiaques, de cancer et de SSPT grave. Au Canada, les femmes repr\u00e9sentent moins de 20 % de tous les agents en uniforme et seulement 12,4 % des officiers sup\u00e9rieurs (mai 2015, Statistique Canada). Bien que ces chiffres aient plus que doubl\u00e9 au cours des dix derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les femmes restent minoritaires. Ainsi, en plus du stress professionnel normalement associ\u00e9 au travail de premi\u00e8re ligne des services de police, dans certains cas, les polici\u00e8res peuvent \u00eatre confront\u00e9es au stress suppl\u00e9mentaire de s\u2019\u00e9tablir dans un environnement de travail domin\u00e9 par les hommes et de faire face au stress en milieu de travail li\u00e9 aux questions de genre.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;3.25&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.25&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; custom_padding__hover=&#8221;|||&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.10.8&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>La technique de M\u00e9ditation Transcendantale<\/strong> est un outil utile dans toute initiative visant \u00e0 lutter contre le stress physique et psychologique dans la police, y compris le SSPT. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la MT r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement le stress et aide le corps \u00e0 r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer plus rapidement des situations stressantes. Au-del\u00e0 de la rem\u00e9diation des sympt\u00f4mes physiques et mentaux du stress, la MT peut renforcer et calmer le syst\u00e8me nerveux au quotidien pour apporter de la vigilance \u00e0 la journ\u00e9e de travail. Tous les participants ont pass\u00e9 un pr\u00e9-test sur le stress per\u00e7u avant d\u2019apprendre et ont refait le m\u00eame test 3 mois plus tard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Phase 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">La MT a \u00e9t\u00e9 offerte \u00e0 cinq policiers masculins au CSPS avec la participation de Garry Foster, professeur certifi\u00e9 de la technique de M\u00e9ditation Transcendantale. Les instructions ont commenc\u00e9 en juin 2018. Tous les participants ont \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9s de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re que le premier groupe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Le test utilis\u00e9 \u00e9tait l\u2019\u00e9chelle de stress per\u00e7u de Sheldon Cohen. Les r\u00e9sultats ont indiqu\u00e9 que la pratique du programme de MT a eu un effet significatif sur la r\u00e9duction du stress per\u00e7u. Le stress per\u00e7u au d\u00e9part, avant la\u00a0formation\u00a0\u00e0 la MT, a montr\u00e9 une moyenne de 17,10 avec une moyenne post-test de 10,50; valeur p = p&lt;,008 [significatif]. Les r\u00e9sultats des tests \u00e9taient similaires \u00e0 ceux de la police centrale de Saanich.
